The efficient building
management app Mutua

FIGMA | REDESIGN | PROTOTYPING

Context

The project entails the development of an application for Mutua Madrileña aimed at enhancing the utilization of services within the group’s buildings. A ‘Home’ interface was designed to emphasize the functionalities, benefits, and advantages that users can experience when working in a specific building.

The initial MVP project lays the foundation for future iterations and improvements of the application. As the app evolves, there are plans to incorporate additional features such as service reservations, personalized notifications, and internal communication tools.

Product definition and functionalities

We began by grouping all the features and functionalities that needed to be available in the app. This redefinition involved reshaping the app’s concept, initially conceived to revolve around a primary service, which was ‘Parking,’ and in this first MVP, it would not be included.

  • My Building

We proposed the option to include a ‘favorite’ building, with each employee associated with their respective building. This approach ensured that all functionalities, services, and notifications were tailored to make the lives of workers more accessible within their individual work environments.

  • Services

The services consist of collaborations between companies that offer discounts and benefits to employees. We prioritized this functionality, making it visible and intuitive in the first section of the screen

  • Incidence

We streamlined the incident reporting process through a set of predefined options based on previous usage patterns. This way, issues can be reported and resolved more efficiently.

  • Surveys

To keep the user at the center, we have developed a survey system that delves into the interaction of employees with the services and the app itself. This allows Mutua to continue gathering valuable information that can be converted into benefits

  • Access

We included a virtual card that simplifies employee access to the building through NFC technology. By simply bringing their mobile device close to the sensor, the app activates this feature, recognizing the employee.

Home

At the outset, access is provided to various tabs within the application, with a focus on the ‘Services’ section that prominently displays logos of collaborating companies.

Furthermore, there are sections for ‘News’ and ‘Surveys’ that enable users to voluntarily express their requirements and assess previously used services.

Services and Collaborations

Within this tab, the user has the ability to filter services by category and obtain a brief description of each one.

This service is presented in a modal that, for technical reasons, serves as a gateway between the app and the external platform where the provider operates.

Mutua Buildings

In the ‘Buildings’ section of the menu, the user can select their favourite building, enabling them to receive more relevant notifications tailored to their specific needs.

Additionally, they can explore a map displaying services in nearby buildings, allowing them to access services that may not be available at their workplace.

Componentization and Design System

After obtaining approval for all designs, we proceeded to the componentization phase, following the design guidelines established for the brand.

In this process, we created all the necessary components, from buttons to more complex structural sections, along with their potential variations, using the atomic design approach.

Prototyping

Finally, to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the app’s flow, a prototype was created, encompassing everything from the registration process to the exploration of all sections. I invite you to test it and interact with it to experience its functionality firsthand.
